Hello my curly, coily, beautiful friends, I’m TESSA. I SPECIALIZE IN THE ART, SCIENCE, AND EDUCATION OF NATURALLY CURLY HAIR.

I’ve always had a love and passion for hair and fashion. Previously, I owned a shoe and clothing boutique on Chicago’s Westside for 10 years providing women with the latest trends in fashion. I decided to pivot my focus to the hair industry and hold a professional hair license from Paul Mitchell the School. While in school, I decided to do the big chop and go natural myself. As my hair grew out, I became lost on my journey of how to care for and style my natural curls. During the pandemic, I found Black Girl Curls and started learning from Aishia and Aeleise. Working with the Black Girl Curls team, made me fall in love with my curls and the community! This is when I decided that helping other curly, coily women with their natural curls would be my niche. After working in different salons, I decided to hone in on my curly skills and join the Cut It Kinky team to be mentored by Aishia. I enjoy being apart of the curl community and will continue to seek the education and knowledge necessary to provide my clients with the best experience and share as much curl knowledge possible to help you succeed in your naturally curly journey. I pride myself on my professionalism and desire to display excellence in all that I do and my passion for curly hair. Thank you for choosing me as your Curly, Coily hair partner.

Client Expectations

The experience from Curly Coily Bella Mia, is a partnership that requires your participation and commitment. Partnering with me will consist of following up after your initial appointment, maintaining your cuts quarterly every 2-3 months. My goal is to provide you with a solid hair regimen, and offer you the best styling techniques in between visits. Being consistent is key.

To see results the process may take time, depending on the condition of your hair. You must be comfortable wearing your hair in it's original natural state.

A curly cut is designed for those who wear their curly hair 90-100% of the time. Curly hair is made up of different curl patterns that will read completely different when it is in an altered state. Hair should be cut how you wear it the most.

  • Bella Mia Curl Discovery Session

    A one on one master class designed to teach naturals how to achieve beautiful, healthy, manageable hair and reach your hair goals. If you are looking to partner with an experienced, knowledgeable and passionate stylist for more instruction on styling and to enhance your natural curl pattern this appointment is for you.

  • Bella Mia Maintenace Curly Cut

    A curly cut maintenance service is for clients who received their cut within the last 3-4 months. This comes with the cut, cleanse + build-up treatment + condition. This service keeps your curls healthy, maintained and at their best. We can also discuss product tweaks, curly routine, and any adjustments needed. I ask that you come in with a fresh Hydrate + Define that is no older than 3 days.

  • Bella Mia Twist-out/Twist-in

    Two strand or flat twists done on hair that has been blown out. Includes shampoo and deep conditioner(determined by your hair needs). Twists can be left in (allowing then to cure 23-38 hours, results in a more defined, longer lasting style), or fluffed and stlyled in salon.
